My Final Reflection
Find research for a research paper can be very difficult especially if it's on a rare topic. This class has taught me how to find accurate sources, thanks to Professor Dragan. I was able to find scholarly articles in a different way by using some of the links that the my Professor provided such as the Research Speed Dial. I learned how to paraphrase more and how to at least write a minimum of six pages. My advice for the future students who want to complete a successful research paper for ENG 103, is that you should always take your time searching for your sources, don't use any sources that don't have sufficient facts/information on your topic. Don't get lazy is the number one rule you should really try following because you can end up extremely lost when finding your sources, paraphrase citations and peer editing. You should always put in effort in your work and focus if you want at least an A or B on your paper. From the beginning I felt like it was going to be very challenging which in a way it was but because the Professor introduced his ways on how to write a paper, it was easier than my previous ENG 102 class. Using Gale Virtual Research Library is very effective, I liked it better than LexisNexis. Gale Library had several of sources that helped me with my research paper topic. There is NO way you can't find sources on your topic using this library. I think the milestones were also very helpful because it was guiding you to your actual paper and I felt like I should've put in more effort in some of them but Professor Dragan was extremely helpful in feedback for your paper, and many should take advantage of that because some Professors don't tell you what you're missing or something you did wrong, etc. Finally, I'm glad to say that ENG 103 wasn't so challenging, but you just have to focus and follow the guidelines to end up with a successful research paper and happy grade.

"My Final Research Paper Game Plan"
"My Final Research Paper Game Plan"
For my final research paper, I decided to talk about the condition of PTSD and how it is better to forget trauma by participating in forgetting therapies just how the movie 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' suggested. First I will introduce the condition of PTSD, how it works, the causes and effects. Then I will argue how in fact, recent forgetting therapies are helpful to patients with PTSD and prove my argument by using helpful sources such as a real story about a patient taking treatment for the condition. Another source I will be using is from a newspaper on how some medications work in order to erase unwanted memories. Through out the essay I will be using additional sources on other ways to forget memories or PTSD from LexisNexis, Gale Encyclopedia and from Academic Search complete which I find extremely helpful and informative for this paper. Lastly, I will be giving my opinion and discussing how the movie portrays an idea of how some people suffer from unwanted memories and there are many possible ways on how to make them go away forever.

My Two Film Stills
Figure 1 from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind:

In this scene the main character Joel Barish, made a final decision. Which is to erase his ex-girlfriend Clementine from his memory. In his hand he has the letter of his ex-girlfriend's final words which were telling him that she had already erased him from her memory for good by going through a procedure at Lacuna Inc, which is the place where he is now. The main character is serious and determined during this scene.
Figure 2 from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind:
In this scene he's woken up from the procedure and realizes he made a big mistake. He's wearing this huge metal helmet thing for his brain examination which is what he wanted. But at the same time he didn't want that anymore because he doesn't look like someone is over their ex. You can tell by the tears filled in his eyes and that one tear falling down his right eye, he's still thinking about her and all the memories he's had with her. Joel is sad and heartbroken even more on what he just did.

Research Topic
The research topic idea I found mostly interesting and decided to work on is Research Paper Idea #2 -- Portraying Human Minds in Film. Research paper idea #2 is based on human minds; in this subject we are able to see what people think, feel, and experience their difficulties and how they are able to handle it or not. For example the movie “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (2004). I never really understood the movie but I found it interesting because the protagonist Jim Carrey was in love with a girl but he no longer wanted to know her. So he goes to the doctor hoping there is a way to erase her from his memory for good. Apparently, there was a way to erase memories by using technology. He followed the procedure but then he realized that once he started there was no way back even if he wanted to. In this paper I will be able to research the neuroscience behind the film and learn more about the psychological world. By reading a bit of the movie summary I can tell how the main characters had a connection that most of us have today with others. Their connection and emotions led them to participate in such medical procedure. I'm looking forward to find out what type of disorders or memory illness can connect with the film.

Welcome To Juana's Blog
Hello everyone, WELCOME TO MY BLOG,
my name is Juana. I'm 19 years old, I love pizza and cold
weather. My goals at LaGuardia CC are to reach a 4.0 gpa and learn useful
information for my future. When I
graduate I hope to transfer to John Jay. I want to be a police officer and
after a few years I would like to be a juvenile counselor. My weaknesses in
school are research papers and presentations but I will continue putting effort
in my school work in order to overcome those weaknesses. My strengths in school
are probably that I’m well organized and do my work on time (95% of the time I
do). My interests in school would
probably be everything that has to do with Criminal Justice because that’s my
major. English classes haven’t been so bad after all, I really thought it was
going to be the worst subject ever next to math but it really isn’t. ENG 101
has been the best English so far because I learned how to do essay’s more
properly. Besides school, I had worked
in three different jobs like Party City, Catering agency and an office job as a
receptionist. I really hated the first and last one; there was so much pressure
and stress. I’m also an Auxiliary Police officer but I don’t get paid, it’s
like a community service thing but I enjoy doing it because I get to help my
community and see things differently. So meanwhile I continue school, I hope to
make the best of it by learning and completing all tasks.
