My Two Film Stills

Figure 1 from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind:

In this scene the main character Joel Barish, made a final decision. Which is to erase his ex-girlfriend Clementine from his memory. In his hand he has the letter of his ex-girlfriend's final words which were telling him that she had already erased him from her memory for good by going through a procedure at Lacuna Inc, which is the place where he is now. The main character is serious and determined during this scene.

Figure 2 from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind:

In this scene he's woken up from the procedure and realizes he made a big mistake. He's wearing this huge metal helmet thing for his brain examination which is what he wanted. But at the same time he didn't want that anymore because he doesn't look like someone is over their ex. You can tell by the tears filled in his eyes and that one tear falling down his right eye, he's still thinking about her and all the memories he's had with her. Joel is sad and heartbroken even more on what he just did.

Research Topic

The research topic idea I found mostly interesting and decided to work on is Research Paper Idea #2 -- Portraying Human Minds in Film. Research paper idea #2 is based on human minds; in this subject we are able to see what people think, feel, and experience their difficulties and how they are able to handle it or not. For example the movie “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (2004). I never really understood the movie but I found it interesting because the protagonist Jim Carrey was in love with a girl but he no longer wanted to know her. So he goes to the doctor hoping there is a way to erase her from his memory for good. Apparently, there was a way to erase memories by using technology. He followed the procedure but then he realized that once he started there was no way back even if he wanted to. In this paper I will be able to research the neuroscience behind the film and learn more about the psychological world. By reading a bit of the movie summary I can tell how the main characters had a connection that most of us have today with others. Their connection and emotions led them to participate in such medical procedure. I'm looking forward to find out what type of disorders or memory illness can connect with the film.
